Masson Back on Target to Win AJ Osborn SR

Castletown shooter Rhian Masson came out on top in the Isle of Man Rifle Association’s AJ Osborn SR competition.

The competition was held at the Laxey and District Rifle Range last month.

The event was a three-quarters handicap competition, with shooters from across the island competing for the trophy.

Masson travelled to Laxey not expecting to challenge for the win. Her form had dipped since mid-January, but the discovery, and tightening, of a loose foresight has helped bring her scores back to where they should be, and the Castletown competitor is clearly enjoying her shooting again.

Back on Target

“Laxey’s range is a nice one to shoot on,” she said afterwards. “I could see the targets clearly.”

Regular Laxey trophy contenders John Wood, who recorded the top deliberate score of the night, and Adrian Cowin finished second and third respectively.

Last season’s winner, Castletown’s Steve Gardner, placed fourth, while home shooter Stephen Curphy rounded out the top five.
