Medical Team Sought For Commonwealth Games

The Commonwealth Games Association of the Isle of Man is inviting applications to form its medical team ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The successful applicants will work with Manx athletes in the build-up to the Games and during the competition period itself, which runs from July 24 to August 2.

Organisers have confirmed that the 2026 Games will follow a different format from previous editions, meaning medical staff may be required to attend all or part of the event depending on logistical arrangements, which will be confirmed closer to the Games.

Medical Team

CGA IOM is seeking to appoint a Team Doctor, a Chartered Physiotherapist and a Sports Massage Therapist.

The Team Doctor will support athletes alongside the Chef de Mission and wider medical team and must hold current GMC registration, with experience in sport and exercise medicine and anti-doping requirements.

The Chartered Physiotherapist role requires a minimum of seven years’ post-graduate experience, including sports injury treatment and multi-sport event exposure, with HCPC registration essential.

A Sports Massage Therapist with at least three years’ experience and a level five qualification is also sought to support athletes during the Games.

All roles are voluntary, with reasonable expenses reimbursed. Applications, including a CV and introductory letter, must be submitted by February 10.
