AN MHK is to take the unusual step of asking the President of Tynwald to explain why he let a minister refuse to answer a question.
The revolves around the issue of how much public money has been spent on external reviews of the island’s schools
Lawrie Hooper is to ask Laurence Skelly to explain why he sided with the government in agreeing it was against the public interest to refuse to reveal the costs of the reviews.
Mr Skelly said he was “satisfied that it would be contrary to the public interest for this question to be answered”.
However, Mr Hooper is now going to ask him why he he reached that decision and why no explanation was originally provided?
Tynwald sits next Tuesday at 10am.
