Laurence Skelly says he is “satisfied” it would be “contrary to the public interest” for the public to know how much of our money has been spent on external reviews of the island’s schools.
Etio is contracted by DESC to compile three reports between October 2023 and July 2026.
However, the process has been criticised due to the department’s refusal to publish the reports in full, again citing the public interest.
Following a question by Lawrie Hooper, Mrs Caine sought permission for it not to be answered, as it is “contrary to the public interest”.
Mr Skelly has now agreed, saying: “I am satisfied that it would be contrary to the public interest for this question to be answered.”
Some details from the reports have been published, but the department has insisted that full disclosure would also be against the public interest.
