Michael Crowe has announced he will stand as a candidate for Rushen in the forthcoming House of Keys General Election.
He has citied economic stability, public service investment and long‑term planning as central themes of his campaign.
He said his decision was rooted in his family’s long connection to the constituency, noting that generations of his family have lived in Rushen and that he and his wife are now raising their son in the same community.
A Chartered Accountant and former President of the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce, Michael also served for eight years as Chief Executive of Finance Isle of Man.
He said this background had given him “an all‑round view of how our economy must function to serve our community,” emphasising accountability, economic reality and professional oversight.
Growing Economy
Michael said a strong and growing economy was essential to restoring and improving public services, including healthcare and education. He highlighted several priorities for Rushen and the South, including securing the long‑awaited replacement of the area’s secondary school, expanding southern healthcare provision, and applying “an accountant’s eye” to government spending to ensure major projects are delivered on budget.
Housing affordability, he said, would also be a key focus, with a commitment to supporting “sensible housing solutions” to help young people remain in the community.
Michael added that listening to residents would be central to his approach, saying he looked forward to hearing from people across Rushen to understand their concerns and priorities.
He said that when it came to economic renewal, investment in services and making decisions for the Island’s long‑term future, voters could “count on me to represent Rushen.”
Sitting MHK Michelle Haywood has declared her intention to stand whilst Speaker Juan Watterson has yet to declare his intention regarding re-election.
Laurence Vaughan‑Williams and Simon Williams have previously declared their intention to stand.
