Panic over portable barbecues has been gently doused, after Keys heard they cause fewer than half a dozen call-outs a year.
Jason Moorhouse MHK asked the big questions, are disposable BBQs torching the Isle of Man and is anyone being marched to court over a burnt sausage?
The answer, it turns out, is a merciful “no”.
Justice and Home Affairs Minister Jane Poole-Wilson said that the Fire and Rescue Service has been flooding Facebook with safety advice, but the stats tell a quieter story with between three and five barbecue incidents per year over the last three years.
The minister also had to resist a culinary detour, telling members: “Tempted as I was to channel my inner Mary Berry and offer some cookery demonstration advice today, I will restrict myself to matters within the purview of Home Affairs.”
