The Infrastructure Minister faced questions about the Lord Street development this morning, but provided very little information.
Dr Michelle Haywood said she wouldn’t be commenting on the plans due to the ongoing planning application process.
A planning application for the Lord Street site was submitted in May 24 2024 for a 14 storey development including a cinema, 84 flats, bus information centre and stands and public toilets.
Facing questions from Jason Moorhouse (Arbory, Castletown and Malew) Dr Haywood said that he could check the application online.
However, she added that “as this application is in the planning system currently, I will not be making any further statement at this time.”
When asked whether he had received any briefings on the development in the past 100 days, the minister said: “I refer the Member to my previous answer, as this is a matter of planning, I will not be making further comment.”
Chris Thomas (Douglas East) asked Dr Haywood whether the DoI has made any agreement with the developer over a section 13 but other than confirming it has previously been confirmed that DoI is negotiating over a bus station, she would not comment further.
Dr Haywood also declined to comment when asked about potential ongoing legal action around the site.
