All GP practices on the island both promote and offer online booking for appointments, the Health Minister has said.
In a written answer to a parliamentary question, Claire Christian said many practices have “adopted a proactive care approach,” directly sending patients booking links.
She noted, however, that some have “reduced this option in favour of proactive care”.
The minister explained this shift addresses challenges where patients “booked with a specific clinician when another would have been more suitable”.
To ensure compliance with the contractual requirement, the DHSC is “currently undertaking a rapid review to understand patient experiences when booking GP appointments”.
Manx Care also monitors online access during quarterly GP contract visits and gathers patient feedback through the ‘Friends and Family Survey’.
