Manx National Heritage has submitted its new plans for a visitor centre at the Great Laxey Wheel.
Its previous application was withdrawn after it was slammed as “dreadful” by historian Charles Guard.
Replacing those original plans, MNH has proposed installing a single story wooden structure which will provide a entrance for ticket sales, a shop and a staff room.
The existing gate and wooden fencing that backs onto Mines Road would also be replaced with black railings.
During the works we can only assume that the wheel will keep on ‘turning, turning, turning in Lady Isabella’s memory’ (it’s stuck in my head, so it may as well be stuck in yours).

The previous plans were withdrawn last year after public backlash led by Charles Guard.
Mr Guard described the plans as resembling a “plastic portacabin” in video that was widely shared when the plans were submitted over a year ago.
