Motiv8 Spread Message of Overdose Awareness Day

Every day of every year someone somewhere suffers from an overdose and back in 2001 International Overdose Awareness Day began.

International Overdose Awareness Day day is to help highlight globally that overdose affects everyone, from grieving families to first responders, the impacts of overdose are far reaching and indiscriminate.

This year’s theme is Together we can’.

Motiv8 Addiction Services will be in Douglas City Centre with a pop up stand for people to come along to learn a little bit more about what we do, how they can get involved, support that is offered and much more.

You may see some of the islands landmarks including the Tower of Refuge in Douglas and the Swing Bridge in Ramsey lit up in Purple on the night of August 31.

Overdose Awareness Day

On the stand on August 31 there will be free Naloxone kits which can be confidentially issued to anyone that may witness opioid overdoses.

The kits are simple to administer, just like a simple nasal spray and do save lives here on the island. ‘Get a kit, carry a kit, save a life!’

If you are a business and would like to support the awareness day by simply lighting your business up purple get in touch with Motiv8.

Motiv8 is the islands addiction support charity and offer free support to anyone on the island with no waiting lists.

Even the phone call is free (0808 1624 627).
