Update: Mountain Will Not Close Tonight

The Mountain Road (Ramsey to Tholt Y Will) will remain open tonight, with the weather hampering works plans.

The road is due to close between 6:30pm and 10pm each evening from Monday August 5, up to and including Friday August 9.

The closures are to facilitate seasonal verge cutting along the length of the route.

While the closures will be in place principally to deal with cyclical verge maintenance, the DoI has also arranged for repairs to a parapet wall on one of the bridges on the Mountain Mile. This wall was recently damaged in a road traffic collision.

There are additional provisional evening closures the following week in case some, or all of the primary dates cannot be used.

If the weather stops operations on a particular evening the closure on that day will be lifted.

The DoI said: “Please note that vehicular access/ egress to the parking facilities at the Bungalow Tram Station and Victory Café will be maintained from the A14 Tholt Y Will Road during period of each closure.

“These works are being done out of hours to minimise the impact of closing the Mountain Road on commuter and commercial traffic to and from Ramsey and the north.”
