Manx Wildlife Trust has been presented with the King’s Award for Voluntary Service.
The annual award is bestowed by the Monarch to voluntary organisations and charities across the UK and Crown Dependencies.
This week Sir John Lorimer presented the award for delivering and championing the conservation of Manx nature and the environment for the Isle of Man.
Joined by many of the charity’s dedicated staff and volunteers, Sir John and Lady Lorimer celebrated this incredible achievement by hosting a reception at Government House.
Government House said: “With over 300 unpaid volunteers, who give their support all year round (in all weathers!), their efforts benefit the whole community of the island, through engagement and educational activities, protecting and nurturing natural wildlife and their habitats, as well as the health and wellbeing of the people of the Isle of Man.
“The charity is a proven leader in the voluntary sector on the Island. Volunteer time is estimated to be in excess of 10,000 hours per annum, which is testament to the outstanding dedication, commitment, energy and enthusiasm of their wonderful volunteers.
“Congratulations to to everyone involved with Manx Wildlife Trust!”
