Now down to business.
The St Marks Road, from Ballasalla to the roundabout at Braaid crossroads is to have centre road studs fitted and this will require some road closures.
Colas (IOM) Ltd is work going to be doing the work on behalf of the DoI.
As the road is narrow, this work will be done under daily weekday road closures between 9:30am and 3:30pm.
The closure will come into effect in two stages: Ballasalla to St Marks and St Marks to the Braaid.
The DoI said: “The order allows Colas to close this road daily between Monday 9 and Thursday September 19.
” It is anticipated that closures will only be required on a few days within this closure period. The 11 day window allows for delays caused by inclement weather, etc. If the weather is unsuitable to apply road studs on a particular day, the road will remain open.”
Access will be maintained for residents.
Next Phase
Following completion of works on the St Marks Road, similar work on the Cooil Road between the Braaid roundabout and Cooil Methodist Chapel is planned.
The DoI said: “This section of road will also be subject to daily weekday road closures between 9:30am and 3:30pm, with access maintained for residents. The closure order for this section of road allows for closures between Monday 16 until Friday September 20. Again, it is not expected that all the days authorised will be required.”
Although the orders overlap, the roads will not be closed at the same time, work will be done sequentially.
