A volunteer at Ramsey Lifeboat Station has qualified as the new head launcher.
Nigel Wallace passed his assessment which was conducted by an RNLI Plant and Machinery Trainer/Assessor.
The station spokesperson said: “Nigel has spent many hours on the beach in all weathers throughout the last year in preparation for this assessment.
“His dedication along with that of his fellow shore crew team is an essential part of our operation.”
The Head Launcher coordinates the SLARS (Shore Launch and Recovery System) team, ensuring safe passage to launch sites and the secure recovery and rehousing of the lifeboat.
The role is also crucial for public safety during launching operations.
The station extended its congratulations to Nigel on his achievement.
