Get ready for a nippy start to February and more changeable weather on its way.
We’ve had storms, ice, rain, wind, more rain, sun, no wind – all of it in the last seven days.
I know its now February (how did that happen?!) but I really just want some sunny and windy days to dry this saturated ground out.
Some of you may not spend your spare time crawling through knee deep mud, so may not understand how wet it is.
But for those of us who do, you’ll sympathise with my weather request, as the ground is absolutely drenched and in need of some serious drying.
I’m sadly not convinced my prayers are going to be answered (one day isn’t going to do it).
Nippy Start
It’ll be cool enough this morning as it dropped down to near zero overnight, and there may be some ice and frost around following the cold evening.
This morning will then stay mainly dry but rather cloudy as fresh to strong southerly winds soon develop.
Wind will be a South or SE 10-15, 15-20, soon increasing 15-20, 20-25 in places, then 25-30 gusts 40 in a few places later in day and at first overnight.
It is also worth remembering the warning for coastal overtopping around high tide (1:15pm and 1:30am Sun).
It’ll be an average February day tomorrow with outbreaks of rain at first, but becoming dry later in day as winds ease.
The wind will be a South 15-20, 20-25 in places, veering and decreasing West or NW 10-15 during the day, then gradually backing and increasing South or SW 15-20 overnight, 20-25 in places.
There is also another risk of coastal overtopping at high tide (2pm and 2:15am Monday).
Now I don’t want to say the weather is boring (we know what happened last time *cough* Eowyn *cough*), but it is so lets look into upcoming cosmic events.

With February now upon us, here are some things you should know and look out for in the second month of the year.
Four planets will make their way into view in February: Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and Venus could be seen with the naked eye, with Neptune and Uranus visible with a telescope.
February’s full Moon, also known as the Snow Moon, will bring a brilliant lunar glow as it rises on February 12.
On Valentines Day, Venus (very aptly) will appear more than twice as bright as its dimmest moment of 2025 at magnitude -4.9.
This is the brightest Venus will appear until September 2026.
If you have been dilly dallying about booking a trip or making any travel plans this year; it’s ok – its the universes fault.
But do start to look at getting it done as our logical minds will be sharper in the first half of February, and logistics easier to sort out.
That said, with Venus conjoining Neptune and the North Node during the first week of the month, we’ll also be in an excessively romantic and idealistic mood, which can be great for experiencing life, but maybe not so much planning it.
In either case, tonight might be a better day to take your Valentine out for dinner.
Back to February Weather
Monday will be dry at first, but soon becoming windy, then rain developing late in day and overnight.
Wind will be a South or SW 15-20, 20-25 in places, increasing 25-30 gusts 40, 35 gusts 50 in places.
With strong to gale force winds forecast, it also brings the risk of coastal overtopping (2:45pm and 3:00am Tues).
Tuesday is going to be a bit crap to start with rain and wind, but should dry later in the day as the winds ease.
Wind will be a South or SW 25-30 gusts 40, 35 gusts 50 in places, veering West and gradually decreasing 10-15, 15-20 in places.
Hurry along spring, we’re getting bored of winter.
