Onchan District Commissioners has clarified there are no plans to rename its library after a former commissioner.
A Local Democracy Service report had given some the impression that the library was to be renamed after commissioner Derek Crellin.
However, the Commissioners has confirmed this is not the case and it will be retaining its current name.
A statement said: “The Authority wishes to confirm that the Board has not resolved to rename the Library after former Commissioner Derek Crellin.
“The Library will continue to be named the Harvey Briggs Onchan Library in recognition of the former Commissioner and Captain of the Parish Harvey Briggs.”
Mr Crellin stood down as a commissioner after 25 years at this year’s election.
