Members of the House of Keys (MHK’s) decided there will be no referendum on the Isle of Man’s Assisted Dying Bill.
Chief Minister Alfred Cannan MHK wanted to give the public of the Isle of Man a say on whether the Assisted Dying Bill should be approved.
The bid was unsuccessful by a narrow margin after 12 MHKs voted against the proposal and 11 for.
No Referendum
The 11 MHKs who voted in favour of a referendum were: Rob Callister, Alfred Cannan, Claire Christian, Ann Corlett, Julie Edge, Tim Glover, Kate Lord-Brennan, Jason Moorhouse, Andrew Smith, Chris Thomas and John Wannenburgh.
The 12 MHKs who voted against were: Alex Allinson, Clare Barber, Daphne Caine, Tim Crookall, Joney Faragher, Michelle Haywood, Lawrie Hooper, Tim Johnston, Sarah Maltby, Stu Peters, Jane Poole-Wilson and Juan Watterson.
