One Year of Manx Care’s Intermediate Care Service

Manx Care is celebrating the first anniversary of a service which has led to a significant reduction in emergency readmissions to hospital.

The Intermediate Care Service has marked a year of “significant improvements” in patient care and hospital efficiency, according to Manx Care.

Since its launch in March 2024, one of the standout successes is the reduction in hospital length of stay.

Manx Care says that it has provided patients with alternative care pathways, such as rehabilitation at home or in community settings.

It says patients are able to recover more comfortably and effectively, with many leaving the hospital sooner than before.

The service has also contributed to a marked decrease in attendances at the Emergency Department.

The health care provider says the service has led to a significant reduction in emergency readmissions to hospital.

It offers continuous care and support in the community, meaning patients are less likely to experience complications that would require a return to the hospital.
