Open‑air Shakespeare returns to the island this July as TNT Theatre Britain and the American Drama Group Europe stage Macbeth at two of the island’s heritage sites.
The headline performance takes place at Peel Castle on Saturday, July 25 at 6pm, with doors opening from 4.30pm for audiences to enjoy the setting before the play begins. A matinee at Rushen Abbey follows on Sunday, July 26 at 2pm.
Set against the backdrop of Peel’s ancient walls and the sound of the sea below, the production promises an atmospheric retelling of Shakespeare’s dark tragedy, from the witches’ prophecies to Macbeth and Lady Macbeth’s descent into ambition and guilt.
The visit marks a welcome return for the touring companies, known for bold, accessible interpretations staged in historic locations worldwide.
Audiences are encouraged to bring blankets or low‑backed chairs, with picnics welcome at both venues.
Tickets cost £28 for adults and from £16.80 for children and students.
