The Isle of Man’s Oie Voaldyn Manx May Fire Festival has secured a major boost this year, announcing Ørsted as its key sponsor.
The partnership brings together one of the island’s most vibrant cultural celebrations with a shared commitment to environmental sustainability.
Held on Peel shore on May 3, the Oie Voaldyn festival features daytime crafts and storytelling, followed by torchlit parades, a narrated sound‑and‑light performance, dramatic re‑enactments of Summer and Winter, and a fiery finale.
Fire Festival
Festival Chairman John Shakespeare said Ørsted’s support has helped secure the event’s future. He described the company as “a perfect partner” for a festival rooted in the elements and increasingly focused on sustainability.
Jamie Baldwin, Project Director for Ørsted’s Mooir Vannin Offshore Wind Farm, said the sponsorship reflects a deeper commitment to the island.
He highlighted the festival as a celebration of “culture, community, and creativity,” adding that Ørsted aims to make a meaningful contribution to local life.
This year’s event will place extra emphasis on environmental stewardship, aligning the Island’s folklore traditions with a greener vision for the future.
