The Government’s Immigration Service have issued 6026 work related visas in the last five years.
The number of visas came to light in a written Tynwald answer from the Treasury Minister Dr Alex Allinson MHK.
Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Tim Glover requested to know how many worker migrant visas, worker intra-company transfer migrant visas, worker migrant health and care visas and temporary worker visas have been issued in each of the last five years.
Work Visas
The breakdown of visas issued since 2020 is as follows:
- Tier 5 (Government Authorised Exchange): 6
- Tier 5 (Temporary Worker): 22
- Tier 5 Temp Worker (Adult dependant): 1
- Worker (ICT) Migrant: 365
- Worker (ICT) Migrant – Child Dependant: 32
- Worker (ICT) Migrant- Adult Dependant: 29
- Worker (Seasonal) Migrant: 259
- Worker Migrant: 2011
- Worker Migrant – Adult Dependant: 1014
- Worker Migrant – Child Dependant: 1203
- Worker Migrant – Health Visa: 742
- Worker Migrant – Health Visa – Adult Dependant: 141
- Worker Migrant – Health Visa – Child Dependant: 201
Seasonal Workers
The Seasonal Migrant Worker route officially closed on November 9 2023.
However, a small number of applications had been submitted before this date, making them eligible for processing.
As a result, those applications continued through the system and were issued in 2024.
