Manxman’s morning sailing to Heysham has been cancelled while staff investigate a technical issue with the ship.
The company flagship had left Heysham at 2:40am and had been due in Douglas around 6:25am, but only arrived at about 6:45am. accompanied by a tug boat.
In an update, a company spokesperson said that staff were “responding to a technical issue on Manxman, that requires further investigation”.
They had previously said: “The relevant authorities have been notified and the Company will issue a further update once further details of the incident are known.”
This has resulted in the cancellation of this morning’s sailing to and afternoon return from Heysham.
Manannan was due to leave for Liverpool at 7:15am, but has been delayed to allow passengers to transfer over to the Liverpool sailing.
People who say they were onboard for the crossing overnight from Heysham said that at one point they were asked to assemble in the cafe area of the ship.
Contingency plans to activate the Ben-My-Chree are being implemented and a further update will be issued shortly.
