Marown Parish Commissioners has set the Parish Rates for the forthcoming financial year 2025/26 at 239 pence in the pound.
This is up from 195p last year.
The authority said the rise is “largely due to increases levied upon us by central government without any consultation”.
It added: “The increase in the disposal of waste at the EFWP has increased by 23.24% over the last 2 years and of course there has been a significant increase in charges across the board for services provided.
“We are also clearing the deficit from those residents who have defaulted in paying their rates. Under GDPR rules we are not allowed to name these individuals.
“Action will be taken against those who have defaulted in payment and this will begin imminently. Although this is quite a significant increase, it does only equate to an increase of 44 pence per pound of net rateable value.
“We are proud that Marown still maintains one of the lowest rates of any parish authority on the Island.”
