Peel secured the first piece of major silverware in women’s football this season after beating Douglas Royal 6-0 in the Canada Life sponsored Flood-lit Cup final at the Bowl on Sunday.
Lisa Costain gave the westerners an early lead, Becky Corkish netted their second to give the Douglas Road side a two goal advantage come the break.
Player of the match Sarah Wignall netted a brace shortly after the break, Pippa Wallis made it 5-0, Wignall completed her hat-trick with the last kick of the game.
It was the third time Peel had won this trophy and the first time they had retained this silverware.
Sarah Wignall also made a piece of history by becoming the first player to score a hat-trick in the final.
