On Monday Tynwald Hill will see petitioners from around the island gather at Tynwald Day to bring their view forward.
A petitioner will call for urgent reform of the police complaints system.
The petitioner says that “unlike the UK, the Isle of Man has no independent body to investigate serious complaints against the police”.
What They Want
The petitioner wants to see a Select Committee of Tynwald be established to examine the current law relating to complaints against the Isle of Man Constabulary.
They also wants Tynwald to consider whether the Police Complaints Commissioner should be granted the same powers as their UK counterpart to conduct independent investigations into serious complaints.
