The Manx NFU is asking people to leave lambs alone even if they look like they may have been left behind.
Part of its efforts to promote the countryside code, the union is advising walkers on how to behave out in the countryside.
It’s coming to the time of year when new lambs and calves start to appear in fields, but the MNFU said this doesn’t mean they are alone.
It said: “Often very young lambs shelter or rest while the ewe is nearby grazing. T
“They are not abandoned!
“Give all livestock and wildlife plenty of space and do not approach them, touch them, feed them, and especially do not remove them.”
Dogs
Sadly every year comes with a fresh spate of dog attacks on livestock, with the MNFU asking dog walkers to ensure they never let their dogs off the leash around livestock.
It added: “If you are concerned, contact the farmer or the police. Farmers will be checking stock regularly.”
