Police Didn’t Advise to Call Off Parties

The Police say they did not advise the organisers of any Year 11 after-prom parties to cancel their events.

However, the organisers of four upcoming parties have independently decided to call them off.

While secondary schools assist in arranging Year 11 proms, after-parties are separate, parent-organised events with no formal school involvement.

The cancellations follow the death of a 14-year-old in Ramsey last month, which remains under investigation.

The Constabulary stated it is “not aware of any threats in relation to these events and has not advised they should be cancelled”.

Investigation

However, police are actively investigating allegations of retribution linked to the incident, leading to arrests. Officers said they “take any threats of violence seriously.”

A statement said: “The Isle of Man Constabulary can confirm that it is not aware of any threats in relation to these events and has not advised they should be cancelled.

“Police take any threats of violence seriously and are actively investigating allegations of retribution in connection with the death in Ramsey, which has led to arrests.”

If any person has received threats or knows of any person who has received threats in relation to this matter, they are asked to make contact immediately with the Police on 631212.

If anyone wishes to pass information anonymously, they can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
