A serving police officer has appeared in court this morning charged with a domestic abuse offence.
Mark Hempsall, 56, is accused of subjecting a former partner to physical and psychological abuse over a seven year period.
High Bailiff James Brooks heard that PC Hempsall allegedly used the Police’s TETRA network to track his partner’s movements and demanded they regularly updated him on where they were.
No pleas were entered and he was bailed, subject to conditions including residency, not leaving the island, not to contact the complainant or several witnesses and not going near certain parts of the island, to appear before the court again on October 3.
