Police have moved to address public concern after images of a man outside a was circulating on social media.
The individual’s behaviour was reported as suspicious in an incident dating back to February 27.
In a statement, police confirmed: “Police are aware of one incident that was reported on February 27 this year and believe a recorded image of this person is currently circulating.”
Officers responded to the original report on the day it was made. A thorough search of the area was carried out, but the male could not be found.
“No person matching the description was located,” the statement continued. “Police have not received any further reports about this, or any other male, acting in suspicious circumstances since 27th February.”
Authorities are now urging the public to be vigilant and to report any concerns immediately, rather than posting about them online after the fact.
“The public are urged to report any suspicious activity that causes them concern at the time of the incident to enable a timely response and the best opportunity to locate the person and establish any criminality or vulnerability,” police added.
Anyone with relevant footage is encouraged to come forward, as “clear video footage or captured images would assist them to identify any person subsequently reported.”
