Jane Poole‑Wilson has confirmed she will stand again in Middle at September’s General Election, saying she wants to continue contributing to the island’s “future success and resilience”.
Poole‑Wilson entered national politics in 2017 as a Member of the Legislative Council before being elected to the House of Keys in 2021. She has served as Minister for Justice and Home Affairs and Deputy Chief Minister throughout the current administration.
In her announcement, she said it had been “a privilege to represent the people of Middle”, highlighting both the pressures of recent years and the work undertaken to strengthen the island’s security.
She said the cost‑of‑living impacts linked to global conflicts had been felt locally, while organised crime had become “more sophisticated”, increasing risks to public safety. She added that significant progress had been made to meet those threats and maintain the island’s reputation as a safe place to live.
Poole‑Wilson said the last five years had brought “incredibly difficult challenges”, but she believes the island has opportunities to grow its economy and adapt for a sustainable future.
“I am optimistic about our future and am standing because I believe I have the experience and commitment to make a positive difference both to our community today and to the Island’s future success and resilience,” she said.
Simon Sinclair, Alf Caine, Jason Moore and Andre Risha have previously declared their intention to contest the seat.
