The vice-chair of Manx Utilities has confirmed that the island’s gas supply has been 96% pre-purchased, up until February 2027.
A Tynwald question for written answer, placed by Onchan MHK Rob Callister, requested details of how much of the supply for the next three months had been acquired, and the price paid.
Peter Reid MLC said: “The proportion purchased is approximately 98% for December, 95% for January and 96% for February, at an average purchase price of 101.6 pence per therm in each month.
“These purchases cover a fixed volume of 80,000 therms per day throughout the three months.”
He added: “The variation in the percentage covered reflects differences in forecast daily demand for each month, rather than any difference in the daily volume purchased or the price paid.”
