Manx Care says that proposals to relocate rehabilitation services from Martin Ward to Reayrt Skyal have been dropped following intense public concern.
The health body acknowledged that recent weeks saw “increased media and social media commentary after the accidental disclosure of confidential planning discussions”.
Manx Care said it “recognises that this has caused understandable concern among staff, residents’ families, and the wider community”.
Senior leaders held dedicated sessions with staff on May 20 and with relatives on June 11 to listen to views and concerns.
An options paper is being developed for the Manx Care Board in July. However, a spokesperson said: “Following detailed discussions with staff and families, and after careful consideration of the potential impact on residents, relatives, and the local community, Manx Care has decided to remove Reayrt Skyal from the options appraisal.”
The health body said this decision “reflects the strength of feeling expressed during engagement and the importance of maintaining public confidence and ensuring patient wellbeing”.
Work will now continue on remaining options to deliver rehabilitation services.
