Concerns over the condition and safety of Douglas Promenade have been brought to Tynwald, with two written questions submitted by John Wannenburgh MHK.
In the first question, Mr Wannenburgh has asked whether the Department of Infrastructure formally accepted the condition of Douglas Promenade from the contractors when the major regeneration works were completed.
He is also seeking clarification on whether the full snagging list was completed, along with a detailed breakdown of costs incurred since the project was handed over.
Promenade Pedestrian Safety
In addition, the question highlights ongoing concerns about the promenade’s condition, particularly damaged flagstones at pedestrian crossings, and asks what plans are in place to review and address these issues.
A second written question focuses specifically on pedestrian safety at the courtesy crossings along the promenade.
The DoI Minister Dr Michelle Haywood has been asked what risk assessments have been carried out, how many accidents or near misses have been reported, and whether a formal review of the crossings’ effectiveness and safety is planned.
The Minister is due to respond to both questions by January 20.
