FC Isle of Man manager Paul Jones has outlined his plans for the upcoming season as the team begins its pre-season training.
Speaking ahead of the first session, Jones emphasised the importance of player fitness, squad cohesion, and community support in achieving the club’s ambitions.
Reflecting on his break, Jones said: “It took a little while for the adrenaline and stress to leave the system.
“The close season never feels long enough, but I tried to spend time with my family and enjoy life away from football. It’s always good to be back with the players and staff.”
With pre-season underway, Jones highlighted the focus on balancing fitness and tactical work: “We’ll be working with the ball from day one. We don’t have much time, so we’ll assess players carefully to avoid injuries and build up intensity gradually.”

Addressing squad changes, Jones revealed challenges in recruitment: “We’ve invited a lot of players in, but not everyone has replied—which is frustrating. We’re also changing our scouting approach, working more closely with local coaches to identify talent.”
He added: “This club will only be as good as it can be if we all work together for the players’ benefit.”
There have also been changed to the coaching set up: “We’re refining what we do, holding each other more accountable, and giving players different voices,” he said.
Looking ahead, Jones set high targets: “We aim to be at the top end of the table, pushing for promotion.”
Last season taught us lessons, and we need to finish stronger this time.

He also called for supporter backing: “We need the community behind us. The club adds value off the pitch, but together we can achieve something special on it.”
