Ravens Clinch Dramatic Win

Ste Whitley scored a last minute winner as FC Isle of Man picked up their first win in three to close the gap on the playoff spots.

Wearing the captain’s armband, Whitley led by example as he slotted home in the 98th minute against AFC Liverpool.

After missing a couple of good chances in the first half, the Ravens largely dominated possession but were unable to break through the Liverpool back line or really challenge keeper Harry Campbell.

Even a controversial second yellow for striker Adam Adebiyi which left the Ravens playing a third of the game with 10 men didn’t see much difference in a game that appeared to be drifting to a 0-0.

However, with five minutes added on, Jacob Crook appeared to stab home the opener amidst a scramble at the back post which appeared to have settled the game.

AFC Liverpool had other plans and Elliot Taylor levelled when he riffled past Adam Killey before landing a backflip to celebrate.

His celebration proved too early though as straight from kick off the Ravens broke down the right with Luke Booth dummying a ball which ran through to Whitley who kept his composure to slow past Campbell and secure the points.

Paul Jones’ side are back at The Bowl next weekend for a clash with Irlam, who sit one place and four points ahead of them in seventh.
