A spectacular late goal from Joao Marques secured a 3-1 away victory for FC Isle of Man against Litherland REMYCA on Saturday.
The Ravens started brightly and took a fifth-minute lead through a Charlie Higgins penalty. Litherland drew level just past the half-hour mark via Alessandro Trapasso-Tully, but Higgins restored the lead early in the second half with a fine finish from a tight angle.
The match saw several unusual stoppages, including a break for the referee being struck by the ball and crowd issues. The Ravens were reduced to ten men late on when Dean Pinnington received a second yellow card.
Deep into added time, substitute Marques sealed the win in stunning fashion.
After a poor clearance from the Litherland keeper, Marques lofted a first-time shot from 35 yards over the stranded goalkeeper, confirming the three points for the travelling side.
The Ravens’ next game is at home to FC St Helens on Saturday evening.
