The island’s referees have congratulated Peter Beighton after he refereed his final game on Sunday afternoon.
Peter took charge of the Masters FA Cup final alongside assistants Huw Matthews and Neshko Marinov in what was his 56th year as an official.
The referees group said: “Peter came to the island 38 years ago and has refereed at the top level for those years having officiated at all the major finals on the island.
“Having officiated around 2,000 matches you can hang that whistle up with the utmost pride on a job well done!”
The island’s FA added its own tribute, saying: “Peter started refereeing whilst at university!
“Over the years he has refereed in lots of places as well as the Isle of Man including England, France, Germany, Guernsey, Shetland and Chicago!
“Excellent performance today Peter! Signed off in style!”
