Brothers Sam and Matty Rennie have spoken of their dream of headlining a professional boxing event on the Isle of Man.
Speaking to Round Eight Boxing, the brothers spoke of what it would mean for them but also Manx boxing.
Sam, the WBC Australasia Silver champion, said: “It’s something we spoke about for years. We used to joke about it years ago, but you know now that it’s actually doable.
“It’s what it’s something that excites me. But even if it’s not in the Isle of Man, even if we could just get it done in Liverpool.
It’s Matty’s adopted home and it’s only across the pond 15 minute flight or on the boat.”
Matty added: “I think it would be massive for the Isle of Man.
“They have the one of the deadliest race in the world, in the Isle of Man TT, so if they can have that on the island, surely can have professional boxers on the island. There’s a great venue for it.”
He also noted that talks have been had with some promoters, adding: “It’s just getting the right people in the circle who want it just as much as we want to.”
Boxers
Away from the Rennies, Jamie Devine and Jade Burden are both undefeated Manx pros fighting in the UK, with Jamie due to fight in July ahead of Jade’s next bout in August.
