Mathew Rennie scored a decisive points win in Liverpool over the weekend to extend his unbeaten pro record.
Rennie beat the unorthodox Mykalio Sovtus 60-54 at the Grand Central Hall on Saturday night to take his record to 13-0.
Fighting under the guidance of new coach Terry Spencer, Rennie controlled the bout against his Ukrainian opponent and looked the much more comfortable throughout.
With his opponent throwing sometimes wild punches from all angles, Rennie did well throughout the bout to dodge and weave his way out of their path, while showing tidy footwork and demonstrating his superior speed to pick off some tidy shots of his own.

Rennie told VIP Boxing Promotions he was “happy with the overall performance” which saw him pick up every round on the judge’s card.
He added: “The main thing was getting the solid six rounds in with the new gym, with Terry, Jamie and Nigel in my corner, putting things together and a lot of things worked that we’d been working on.”
Looking ahead, the Manxman is hungry for gold and made has made clear his intentions to seek a title fight.
He said: “I’ve had a good few wins in my career and I’m ready to go on to bigger things now and hopefully chase for titles, maybe small domestic ones or even bigger, let’s see what comes down the line.”
