Residents to Consider Bus Alternatives

Residents in the south of the island have been invited to a meeting to discuss the lack of bus provision for Cregneash and The Sound.

The government has axed the bus route saying it was uneconomical given the low number of passengers using it.

Organiser Christa Viohl has said the meeting is not being held to point fingers or “whether or not we need any public transport”.

“There will be NO PUBLIC BASHING, NO hunting for SCAPEGOATS, no discussions about who could have done more or better, etc. This will lead us nowhere,” she said.

Christa added: “The sole purpose is to find a way of bringing locals and tourists to Cregneash /The Sound for an affordable price.

“We will focus on what WE RESIDENTS of the South can do to make this happen.”

The meeting will be held at The Albert in Port St Mary at 7pm on August 7.

An FoI have revealed that as few as three people a day were using the bus service before it was axed.
