Scheduled roadworks on Richmond Hill have been postponed due to the stormy weather.
Evening drainage works were due to begin this week, to prepare for the winter.
But with weather concerns the road will now remain open this evening (October 26) and tomorrow
A spokesperson for the Department of Infrastructure said: “This change mitigates risk, allows greater flexibility in how we deploy staff to respond to emerging issues this evening, and any follow up tomorrow.”
It also ensures that the route is available should alternative routes become blocked.
New Schedule
This means the revised schedule is as follows:
Road remains open October 26 and 27.
The road will close on the evenings of Wednesday (October 28) and Thursday (October 29) between 6.30pm and 10.30pm as planned.
The temporary closure order permits closures on a number of contingency dates next week. It has therefore been decided to complete the planned work during evening closures on November 2 and 3, between 6.30pm and 10.30pm.
During the closures, a signed diversion route will operate via Kewaigue, Old Castletown Road and Oatlands Road, while businesses in and around Newtown, Santon, will remain accessible from Douglas.
Access for residents will be maintained, although delays are possible. Scheduled bus services will be marshalled through the works.
