Earlier this week, a 70-metre stretch of the Douglas to Peel Road, near Braddan Church, underwent resurfacing.
Following an inspection upon completion, the Department of Infrastructure identified that at one end of the works, the transition between the newly resurfaced area and the existing surface is uneven.
This does not meet the DoI’s resurfacing standards, largely due to the profile of the existing surface.
They Go Again
To address this, the DoI will remove and re-lay a six-metre section of the wearing course of asphalt at the interface of the old and new surfaces.
The DoI says “this remedial work will ensure a smooth transition and full compliance with our standards”.
Additionally, the centre line marking in the resurfaced area will be completed during the same period.
Traffic Lights
Weather permitting, these works are scheduled for the end of next week.
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation to maintain two-way traffic and will be activated after the morning commuter traffic subsides.
The DoI says that “every effort” will be made to finish before the evening peak begins.
