Road Works to Disrupt Parliament Square & Lezayre Road

Carriageway repairs will take place on Parliament Square and Lezayre Road from April 21 to 24, prompting several road closures and diversions.

Lezayre Road will close to through traffic between Bircham Avenue and Parliament Square from 9.30am Tuesday (April 21) until the work is finished.

The Taubman Street/Parliament Square junction will also close once works reach that point. Pedestrian access remains open, but parking on Bircham Avenue will be suspended.

Access to homes and businesses on Lezayre Road will be maintained from the Bircham Avenue end, and all businesses remain open.

Taubman Street will be accessible via Christian Street, which will temporarily operate two‑way for access only.

Permanent traffic lights at Parliament Square will be switched off, with temporary lights managing two‑way traffic between Bowring Road and Albert Terrace.

There will be no access from the Square onto Lezayre Road, with traffic diverted via Bowring Road. A temporary pedestrian crossing will be installed between the Town Hall and Central Hotel.

The DOI said the works were originally planned to coincide with Isle of Man Energy’s recent closure on Lezayre Road, but those works finished earlier than expected and DOI crews were already committed elsewhere.
