Ramsey MHK Dr Alex Allinson says he expects Royal Assent for the Assisted Dying Bill to take at least three months.
However, he said that it may take longer depending on events in Westminster.
With the Bill now having concluded its passage through Keys and LegCo, once members have signed it, it will be sent for Royal Assent.
Dr Allinson said that it will be sent to the UK Ministry of Justice for assent and that usually it would take three months.
However, he said that due to legislation going through Westminster at the moment “they may take longer”.
Dr Allinson said: “I am grateful to Tynwald for their time and consideration of this Bill which was passed today and will now be submitted for Royal Assent.
“People of our Island have been campaigning for choice, dignity and autonomy to be available for those with a terminal illness facing an imminent death for the last twenty years and today is an important step forward for the Isle of Man and our democracy.”
