River Sea Limited has submitted principle plans for a mobile sauna on Laxey promenade.
The proposal outlines a “small barrel mobile sauna unit” to be placed at the far end of the promenade.
The sauna aims to cause “zero disruption to residents” while avoiding the use of parking spaces.
The company also emphasised its commitment to “enhance the natural landscape” by screening existing metal fencing with wooden boards “decorated to match the surrounding landscape”.
Wellness
Riversea Sauna is linked to Morning Momentum, an “Island wide physical, mental health and wellness organisation” with over 1,000 members.
The proposal highlights the sauna’s potential to complement Laxey’s “unique appeal” as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, offering a “holistic experience” for residents and tourists.
Operating hours would align with commissioners’ preferences, such of 9am to 6pm on weekdays and until 7pm on a weekend.
The company stated the venture would “provide additional benefits to Laxey by further enhancing the perception of the village as a vibrant, healthy, and naturally beautiful destination”.
