The Manx Labour Party has criticised this year’s Mandate to Manx Care saying it the healthcare plan is “short-sighted and unfair”.
Politicians have criticised the plan since it was published this week, including a proposal to cut cancer screenings.
Commenting on the DHSC’s prescribed mandate, the MLP has criticised reductions in front line services through a cut in beds, charges for some services and deprioritised care programmes.
The Manx Labour Party is led by Joney Faragher MHK and is represented in Tynwald by herself and Sarah Maltby MHK.
It said: “We believe these cuts are short-sighted and unfair, putting the burden of financial pressures on patients and staff.
“Restricting services and introducing charges risks creating a two-tier health system — where those who can afford to pay receive care, and those who can’t are left behind.
“Instead of cutting vital services, we should be investing in sustainable solutions, supporting healthcare workers, and ensuring every person on the Isle of Man gets the care they deserve, without fear of cost or compromise.”
