Sinkhole Forces Emergency Road Closure

A section of Four Roads to Beach Road in Port St Mary has been closed after a sinkhole formed in the carriageway near the Station Hotel.

Highway Services has a team on site carrying out emergency excavation works to assess and repair the damage.

All through‑traffic between Port Erin and Port St Mary is being diverted via Castletown Road, Gansey and Beach Road.

The sinkhole is located just north of the Station Hotel. Access to the hotel is available from the Port St Mary side only, while homes north of the hotel can be reached from the Port Erin side only.

The emergency road closure is currently in place until 4pm on Thursday (February 26), though the Department of Infrastructure say the exact duration will depend on the full extent of the issue once investigations are complete.
