Manx cyclist Sir Mark Cavendish has received his knighthood this afternoon.
The 39-year-old received the honour for his “outstanding contribution to the sport of cycling, his on-Island and off-Island charity work and as a sporting ambassador for the United Kingdom and the Isle of Man”.
The announcement was made in the King’s Birthday Honours List on June 14.
Sir Cav claimed a record breaking, history making, 35th Tour de France stage win, making him the most successful Tour de France stage winner of all-time.
Prince William presented him with the award at Windsor Castle today.
