Six islanders have received honours in the 2026 New Year Honours List.
President of Tynwald Laurence David Skelly MLC has been given an OBE.
The citation recognises his “long and distinguished service” to the Isle of Man, highlighting his ministerial work, advocacy for Manx culture and heritage, and extensive community roles.
Julie Elizabeth Stokes receives an MBE for “outstanding services to cancer patients on the Isle of Man.”
She founded the Manx Breast Cancer Support Group and led multi-million pound fundraising campaigns for new facilities at Noble’s Hospital, including the forthcoming Cancer Support and Information Centre.
An MBE is also awarded to Jennifer Anna Houghton for services to business and the community.
Gerald Joseph Callister is awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) for his outstanding community service in Port Erin.
Mark Christian, Interim Chief Fire Officer, receives the King’s Fire Service Medal after over 30 years of service.
William Bellamy, Head of the Isle of Man Ambulance Service, is awarded the King’s Ambulance Medal for more than 20 years of distinguished service.
