The gap between the island’s minimum and living wage has closed to £1.49 an hour.
Last year it stood at £1.60 an hour, despite Tynwald supporting parity being reached between the two this year.
The Isle of Man’s Living Wage for 2025/26 has been set at £13.74 per hour, which represents a 69p increase from the previous year, according to the latest report by Statistics Isle of Man.
By comparison, the legal minimum wage is £12.25, with the youth rate (for those under 18) set at £9.55.
Tynwald had previously committed the government to aligning the two by this autumn, however after concerns from business owners that was axed.
What Now?
In February the DfE and Treasury took the decision to defer commitment for the originally proposed second increase to £13.05 in October which would have aligned with last year’s living wage.
Instead it will prioritise a review was ordered into the current methodology of agreeing proposals in respect of the Minimum Wage and its link with the Living Wage, with the aim to report on findings to Tynwald next month.
